Reebok ad featuring 50 Cent. uzair yaqoob

1. the way this add starts of by showing violence is right in the beginning, it shows shoes hanging of a line, this symbolizes death, in the "ghetto" if a person who has died can not afford a grave stone, a member of their gang has to get a hold of their shoes they died in and throw them over anything where the person has died in a violent way, preferably a stabbing or shooting, this simply represents their death spot. Also in the beginning you can hear police sirens and screaming, this could also tell us something bad has just happened, you then also hear a voice says "shot 9 times in Jamaica queens". every one has herd of the story about 50cent getting into a gang war and ended up being shot 9 times, once again a gun was used, guns are known to be used in violent situations. as the zoom into 50s face, you hear "tell me, who do you plan to massacre next?" and then 50cent laughs, and changes to a serious face, this shows he serious about massacring some one, once again leading to violence.

2. I think Reebok intends to glamorize violence in that way, is show that their could be a certain brand for each type of person, for teens who have grown up rough with violence all around have to have that feeling that there is something out there for them, and this is what Reebok is trying to give, by being socially out casted by the people around them, they have to have the sense that some one does care about them and is thinking about them, and I think that is what Reebok intends to do. By doing this they are also pulling in more customers and by doing so they make them selves more popular ‘’in the hood’’ of most troubled teens.

3. the target audience if for males, for about 15+ in age rage, because at around the teenage year is when most teens become aware of what is around them and choose the wrong way to react to them, also their isn’t a age where a person over 15 cannot wear this make, as 50 cent is a man, which shows any man can also be apart of this brand, and the way they would be affected by the ideology is that they get the idea by having this brand they could be just like 50 cent, which also means if they get into a situation where they get shot, they could possibly survive as 50cent has. Personally as I have a pair of the g-unit sneakers made by Reebok, it makes me feel as if I am apart of g-unit because i have their brand, and also makes me feel more powerful and dominant as 50 cent is represented.

4. in my opinion the add should have been banned, because it does not show any thing positive about the brand, it shows them as being “violent”. As 50cent is the main man in this advert also gives of a negative vibe, because 50cent is known to be apart of g-unit which a group know for its anti social behaviour, and 50cent is seen as the warlord, so by showing him shows a bad image, and also the main product which is supposed to be advertised is the shoes, and not once do they show the shoes, they only show 50, with screaming sounds, police siren they show shoes that mark a death spot, and hear him laugh when asked who he massacring next, all of these on their own give of so much violence, and this add would just encourage more violence.

Work for Monday 18 Oct - Period 1 and 2

this film poster is about a movie called, 1day, it is about 2 gangs in Birmingham and each gang is at great war with each other over, land, drugs and weapons. this movie is mainly directed towards males, over the age of 15, as the movie it self is rated 15+ and is welcome to any ethnicity as seen in the movie, there are different races in each gang but they are mostly the black people, and black youth are stereo typed to be anti social and gang related, it would be aimed at the  c2, d, e, category as the people in these groups are hard working trying to make money just like the people in the movie. the people in the movie are also in the profile of struggler's.

the way this ad targets its audience is through colour, the only colours shown is yellow and purple, there is more of yellow because in the movie we see the gang which represents yellow are the more dominant side.

THIS IS THE BESTEST MOVIE!

this ad is about one of my favourite films, called shooter, its about a marksman living in exile and is coaxed back into action after learning of a plot to kill the president. Ultimately double-crossed and framed for the attempt, he goes on the run to track the real killer and find out who exactly set him up, and why. this movie is aimed at males once again, as it is about shootings and fighting and not many girls would enjoy that, it is aimed for males over the age of 15, as it can again be watched by any ethnicity, and can also be watched by any one from the socio economics group as it is not really aimed at any one.

the way this ad attracts its audience is through images, it shows the marks man standing over the buildings holding a gun, this give the audience a small of taste of what the film could be about. as they would like to find out what the picture means, they would have to go out and watch this movie

twilight is a movie for girls, most likely over the age of 14, because it involves romantic scenes and can also be shown to any ethnicity, and can also be in any socio-economic group, this movie is basically about a teenage girl who risks everything when she falls in love with a vampire, this movie is mainly targeted towards girls because it is about love and romance, and you really wouldn't find men watching this type of movie, men like this would be rare to find.

the way this appeals to its audience is through image, the image shows a girl being held by some one who could be her boyfriend, and 2 other males and a female in the back, i havnt seen this movie but by the look of the poster it makes me wonder why the people in the back are giving the evil eye to the 2 in the front.

dominant and alternative ideology, ms wingley

slum dog millionaire, alternative
synopsis
(copy and pasted of imdb)
Mumbai teen who grew up in the slums, becomes a contestant on the Indian version of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" He is arrested under suspicion of cheating, and while being interrogated, events from his life history are shown which explain why he knows the answer.

the way this represents alternative ideology.
this movie represents alternative ideology because it shows a young Asian boy, who is from another ethnic group which isn't white, and through out the movie it shows him working hard, in order to get where he is today.

Mission impossible 3, dominant
synopsis
Ethan Hunt comes face to face with a dangerous and sadistic arms dealer while trying to keep his identity secret in order to protect his girlfriend.

Dominant ideology
the way this movie represents dominant ideology is through the main charecter, Ethan Hunt is shown to be from white race, he is a male who is middle classes, doesnt seem to old or to young, he is straight as u can tell from the movie and is able bodied from the fighting he also does in the movie.
