12B HW Due 29/11/10 (VIGLEY)

Which trailer conventions are present in these trailers?
Slumdog millionaire and trainspotting uses many different conventions, both trailers are show to be fast tempo and quick, this would draw in a audience as every thing happens so fast they would try to take in as much as they can, also in slumdog the trailer open and it does not have a title, it just shows the awards that have been won and goes straight into the filming, this would make people wonder what it is about. also in the beginning of the trailers you see the face of the main star, this way the audience know who to expect. also in both trailer they use a bit of comedy, in trainspotting the whole trailer could be used as comedy, half way through slumdog they use a funny type of music, this relaxes the audience as every one likes a bit of comedy and they would know it isn't all serious.

How are the trailer conventions used to promote the film to an audience?
(as i have not seen either movie i will tell you what i think..)
the trailer conventions added maybe be the bits that are not in the movie, this could be because the writer wants the audience to see what they think they will see in the film, this would make them sit through the whole movie expecting to see the part they saw in the trailer, or it could be a way to bring in an audience, they could show something really dramatic or any thing that leaves the audience with questions, and the only way to answer them is by watching them. also that the name of the film comes near the end, the audience would want to know the name so they can also tell their friends and family about the movie.

Which trailer do you think is more successful? Why?
it think slumdog would be more successful because it looks more modern and uses up to date equipment, and trainspotting is more older and does look quiet boring, slumdog looks more thrilling with the colours and the lights, although some people are more fond of old movies, the slumdog one shows the awards they have one, and people would want to see why they have won those award, therefore making them more successful
